i try my best to read a wide range; i tend to stick with adult lit, though might occassionally dip into ya/new adult if i'm really, really sold on it.
i love books with wlw rep, but tend not to pick up books that are firmly within the romance genre. this year, like every year, i started off following the pop sugar reading challenge to try and diversify my reads, but as usual i've found some of the categories absolutely bananas, and that's mostly been abandoned. for now, my main ~reading challenge~ is just to try and read 52 books by the end of the year.

DNFs
i don't want to harp on about books i didn't finish too much, but here's the reads i abandoned this year, for posterity:
The Book of Koli by M. R. Carey /// i was really sad i didn't like this one, because it was handsold to me by my local bookshop's owner, who's usually spot on with recommendations! i really loved the concept (dystopian future where society is plagued by killer plants and trees and the few pieces of technology left are given magical regard???), but something about the execution just didn't stick the landing. i might have persevered and finished it if it was a stand alone, but then i found out it's a trilogy (why is everything a trilogy now!), and no, sorry, can't do it.
